Talk Title: FGMs at 40 years: where do we stand?

Professor Dr. Michael Gasik, Dr. Sci. Aalto University Foundation, Finland

Has over 350 publications and patents in many areas and over the last 30 years has carried out more than twenty EU, IEA and national projects. He was/is a representative of Finland in COST MP1005, MP1301, CA17116, CA 22170, International Energy Agency, International Advisory Committee on FGM (since 1994), honorary member of TechNet Alliance, member of ECHA, TERMIS-EU, EORS, European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC), a vice-chairman of Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) in Finland. In 2020 he was appointed as an EORS Ambassador for Finland.

Acting as a reviewer in Scientific Reports, Acta Biomaterialia, Journal of Mechanical Behaviour of Biomedical Materials, ACS Bioengineering; etc. and conferences, and also as an evaluator and rapporteur in EU framework programs (1993-); Research Foundations of Cyprus, Estonia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain. Has completed CPD courses in orthopaedics (University of Bristol UK; Bayerische Landesärtzekammer, Munich, DE).

He is the developer of new biomaterials in vitro testing methods, an owner of the LinkedIn group 'Advanced Testing of Biomaterials', an inventor of model-free assessment of biomaterials and medical devices, new protocol of injectability and 3D bioprinting testing and model-free determination of drug transport signature (several patents). He is doing R&D of biomaterials, medical devices and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP) evaluation, testing and development according to the existing and new regulations such as MDR 2017/745 and IVMDR 2017/746, compliant with the “3R” directive (2010/63/EC).
